This machine is FANTASTIC and by far is the best cost/benneffit you can have. Build quality seems similar to Miller and Lincoln at a fraction of the cost. Not only for DIY enthusiasts but for professional use too. Ever thought how good is to carry a machine that costs 1/5 of a Miller and if you beat it, you can have another 4 to buy??? besides 2yr warranty....

This 280A mig welder works well with .035 wire flux core DCEN, and just used solid wire on a DCEP . Using argon. I’ve tried the scratch start TiG on this. It will do it with nice arc stability. The scratch start is tough. No lie. I really want a pedal and high frequency start which this does not have. Will not Tig AC/ aluminum, but you can buy the aluminum spool gun for another . I might get it, since it’s the cheaper way for occasional aluminum repairs on the bikes and UTVs.

The issues with ac (aluminium ) welding was a torch switch issue that just as easily happened in my shop and the other my in-experience with this style torch. After sorting this out with the aide of friend who makes his living welding , we ran 80 ft of bead on 1/8 material in one long , long evening and never over tempted. To date after the initial hiccup about 350 ft (not inchs) of bead and has been flawless. The auto voltage sensor has been great to run on 110v. Ran about 20ft on 110 a d it will trip a worn 20 amp breaker once warmed up.
I look for these to go up in price soon and still be a great by.

Bought this mig-500pw mig welder to weld up a platform for my DIY home elevator. Never mig welded before. But with all the videos available to help, learned how to do a decent bead after much practice. Maybe not professional, but not too bad in my opinion. Had to call Perfect Power support for help setting it up and they were more than helpful. The manual is adequate, but for dummies, it may require calling them as I did. I broke the torch trigger within a few days due to my own carelessness. I called Perfect Power tech support and was willing to purchase a new trigger, but it only comes as a whole torch assembly. The guy said it was under warranty and no questions were asked. He said no worries, I'll send you a new one. Now that's customer service friends. A 3 year warranty was why I went with this unit over the competition and I'm glad I did. These guys are legit! Yes, I highly recommend this product.
